Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as Manchester United’s caretaker manager on Wednesday following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
Reds’ supporters were already enjoying the news of the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss’ departure from Old Trafford, as it was United’s 3-1 loss to Jurgen Klopp’s men at Anfield that proved to be the tipping point.
However, the latest development in the Red Devils’ search for a new manager has been an even greater source of humour for those on Merseyside, as the Norwegian’s last managerial stint in England was a disaster.
Solskjaer oversaw 30 games for Cardiff back in the 2013/14 season, winning just nine and losing 16 as they made a speedy return to the Championship under the former United striker’s guidance.
The 45-year-old is by no means qualified for the job at Old Trafford, but United chiefs are hoping his ties with the club will help bond everyone together in what has been a difficult year for them.
Despite that, Liverpool fans are still finding his appointment an odd one and have taken to Twitter to express their joy at seeing their arch-rivals in crisis mode…
