West Brom’s squad has to be considered one of the best in the Championship.
The Midlands club have lost just five times in the league this term, and their continued success is at least partially down to their incredible squad depth.
For example, Grady Diangana has been one of their most important players this term, contributing to 10 goals in 21 league appearances, but his injury hasn’t proved to be a problem.
Callum Robinson has stepped in brilliantly to replace him, picking up an average WhoScored rating of 7.32 in his seven appearances so far.

It’s a same story in the midfield, Romaine Sawyer’s red card against Bristol City would have been a huge issue for most teams, but the Baggies could call upon a Premier League winner or an exciting teenager in the shape of Rekeem Harper who their promotion rivals Leeds recently showed an interest in (The Sun, Jan 19, Page 65).
One area that Albion certainly have a lot of depth at the moment is up top.
Hal Robson-Kanu is their top scorer, Charlie Austin was deemed good enough for them to pay him £70k a week and Kenneth Zohore was vital in firing Cardiff to promotion two years ago starting 30 games for the Bluebirds that term.
However, despite having a stacked frontline, they’ll still need reinforcements if they are promoted this season.
For as good as Robson-Kanu has been this season, he’s never done it at Premier League level, netting just 12 goals in 75 appearances in the top-flight, and before this campaign his Championship record was very sketchy as well, scoring 21 in 208 before hitting form.
It’s a similar story for Zohore, he scored just one in 19 last season for Cardiff, and he’s not even getting a look-in this term.
As for Austin, he’s a man who has proven he can score goals in the top-flight famously netting 18 in one season for QPR. That was five years ago now, though, and he’s not been at that level ever since, finding the net just eight times in the Championship in 2019/20.
The Baggies may have great depth up top in the second-tier, but these three players may not be up to the task of making the step up to the elite standard the Premier League requires. For that reason, Luke Dowling must be in the market for a striker if they go up.
In other news, Slaven Bilic could end Albion’s recent dip with one simple switch.
