LAFC and Club America are the two teams highest on the so-called "ranking pathway" for CONCACAF qualification. FIFA has said previously that was a potential plan, pending the outcome of the Leon appeal.
WHAT GIANNI INFANTINO SAID
The FIFA president outlined the plans to reporters: "What we're looking at is that, if the CAS upholds the Appeals Committee's decision, FIFA's intention is to play a playoff match between the team that lost the CONCACAF Champions League final, LAFC, and the next-place team in the rankings, which is America."
