Newcastle United Florian Lejeune is seemingly ahead of schedule in his return from knee surgery after returning to light running on a treadmill.
Lejeune picked up a cruciate knee ligament injury during pre-season training, and underwent an operation to repair the damage.
It is thought that the defender will miss the entire 2018-19 campaign with the issue. However, Lejeune is back running little over one month after undergoing the operation.
Lejeune was impressive for the Magpies last season following his arrival from Eibar, and his injury was a huge blow for Newcastle ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Indeed, Federico Fernandez and Fabian Schar were brought in during the summer off the back of the injury news.
The centre-back is seemingly making excellent progress though, and the Newcastle fans have been on social media offering their views on the Frenchman’s recovery.
