According to new reports coming from The Daily Star, both Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in acquiring the services of Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. But looking at it from Los Blancos’ point of view, they really don’t need the Gabon man in their squad.
What’s the word, then?
The situation at Arsenal is far from perfect at the moment, to say the least.
Just last weekend the Gunners extended their winless streak to a total of six games across all competitions and Unai Emery certainly looks like a man out of sorts.

The Daily Star mention this as one of the reasons why Aubameyang is somewhat unsettled at the club and is stalling on the potential signing of a new contract.
And even though the Gunners would most likely want to keep him, they also don’t want to lose their £60m star for nothing in case he ends up seeing his contract through.
Real Madrid, however, should definitely not be looking to join the race for the 30-year-old forward.
Pointless exercise
Despite being 30 years old already, Aubameyang is someone who’s goalscoring ability should not be ignored.
Even though Arsenal’s current campaign has been rocky, to say the least, the Gabon star has been their shining light throughout, banging in a total of nine goals in 15 games across all competitions.

But Real Madrid have plenty of attacking talent already at the club.
Karim Benzema is currently topping the La Liga charts and has been playing some absolutely incredible football, while the emergence of Rodrygo means they are pretty much set for the future.
Not to mention that Benzema already has a promising substitute in the form of Luka Jovic and there is simply no place for Aubameyang in that squad.
Getting away from Emery seems to be the biggest factor in this whole deal but, since he is reportedly hanging on a thread, maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea for the forward to bide his time and move to a club where his services are more desperately needed.
Arsenal may not be the best place for him at the very moment but things could change if and when they get a new coach.
Only time will tell, though.
In other news, Real Madrid have reportedly made a bold decision on another bargain from Chelsea as the Blues are still looking to solve the future of their soon-to-be out of contract star.
