Leeds United’s recent run has been nothing short of atrocious.
Two wins in their last nine, both of which came courtesy of dramatic late goals as the Whites came from 2-0 down to beat Millwall 3-2, and scored a late winner to overcome Birmingham 5-4.
If we’re being brutally honest, it’s relegation form, and to make matters worse, the Whites’ next few games are against genuine promotion contenders.
Indeed, the Whites have to travel to the City Ground and Griffin Park to face fourth-placed Nottingham Forest and fifth-placed Brentford over the next week and a half, while the next clash after that is a home tie against sixth-placed Bristol City.

With the Yorkshire club’s lead over third-place being cut to just three points, Marcelo Bielsa’s side are in real danger of dropping out of the automatic promotion spots, and if their poor form continues it’s hard to see them getting anything from their next three matches.
Of course, there are still 16 outings to go, and a lot can happen between now and the end of the season, but with the manager admitting there may be a bit of mental weakness within the squad, it’s hard to see them recovering if they drop out of the top two, especially if a bit of a gap opens up.
Realistically, Leeds need a minimum of six points from their next three games to ensure that they’re going to be in a strong position going forward, but the fact of the matter is that they’ve not won convincingly since their 2-0 win over Hull, which was nearly two months ago now.
Whether or not Bielsa’s side can come up with the goods against these promotion hopefuls remains to be seen, but if they can’t they may find themselves battling to stay in the top six rather than pushing for the automatic spots.
In other news, Marcelo Bielsa’s decision on this U23 star is helping nobody.
